As Christmas fast approaches, we are in the season-of-giving spirit. We wanted to do 12 days of wonderful little things this Christmas and from the 1st to the 12th of December, we dedicated 12 days of giving back to our ABI audience, community, and the planet.
Day One – For our first post, we decided to spread the Christmas spirit. For every like we received on this post, we added a pound to our donation pot for the children living in care at Sunshine House in Hull. The love for this post has been overwhelming.
Day Two – Day two was a present for the planet. Putting a slight spin on the traditional Christmas card, we gave away 10 plantable Christmas cards from The Seed Card Company. We can’t wait to see your plants blossom.
Day Three – Our oceans collect a lot of plastic, and 4ocean is a charity devoted to cleaning our planet’s water. Over 18 million pounds of plastic have already been collected from our oceans, seas, and beaches. We gave away a 4ocean bracelet on day three, and all proceeds from their bracelets go towards cleaning our environment.
Day Four – Thousands of people will be homeless this Christmas, putting families and the less fortunate under financial strain. For day four, every comment on our post meant an item donated to Hull foodbank. Amazing work!
Day Five – We all love a good brew throughout the cold months, don’t we? This Christmas, we want to combat loneliness and ask you to share a cup of tea with someone who may need it. That’s why we gave away 10 sets of ABI mugs and tea bags; one for you, and one to brighten someone else’s festive season.
Day Six – We wanted to show our appreciation for the outdoors and help create more greenery for 2022. On day six, the green-thumbed ones amongst you won a Christmas tree planting kit. We can’t wait to see them grow over years to come!
Day Seven – A day filled with love! On day seven, we donated present boxes to Barnardo’s, for the vulnerable children that they protect and support. Thanks to your wonderful ideas for what we should include, these boxes will bring such joy to those who receive them.
Day Eight – During the holiday festivities, we can’t forget about the charities that always need our help. One lucky winner received a WWF animal adoption voucher, enabling them to help protect habitats and their favourite species that rely on them.
Day Nine – During the wintertime it’s easy to forget the spring blooms that are just around the corner. In the comments, our ABI community shared their top tips for looking after the environment. The top answer won themselves a bird feeder, especially for their ABI!
Day Ten – On bitterly cold mornings, a hot drink can really put a spring in your step. At Christmas time, it is crucial that we are as sustainable as possible and minimise waste. In that light, we gifted reusable ABI thermos coffee cups to 10 lucky winners! A fantastic way to keep your coffee warm whilst on your travels.
Day Eleven – Sticking with the sustainable theme, we gave you the chance to win a pack of John Lewis Christmas crackers. These crackers are eco-friendly, plastic-free, sustainable, and recyclable. With each cracker pack you buy, you discover which charity you’ve helped, and how your donation has made a difference.
Day Twelve – Finally, for day twelve, we asked you to nominate someone who made a real difference to you in 2021 and deserved to win a show-stopping Christmas hamper.
