As you get ready for winter, spare a thought for two of our employees who are training for a three day trek across the Himalayas.
On 26th April 2014, the ABI team will be waving off Helen Stockdale and Jill Maundrill from accounts, as they embark on an extraordinary three day trek across the Himalayas – the world’s highest mountain range. Luckily they won’t have to ascend all 8,848 metres of it, but they will push their bodies to the limit, dealing with the altitude and daily conditions to just stay healthy. And the challenge won’t stop there. Helen and Jill will then spend two days taking on a community project for a cancer care centre in Delhi.
So, you’d be forgiven for thinking that with just 5 months to go they’re focused solely on putting in the hours of walking, cycling and strength training to ensure they’re physically and mentally fit for the tough conditions. But, amazingly they’ve also been finding time to take on a number of fundraising events to help raise additional money for charity.
So what great cause has got our accounts ladies all fired up for the challenge? Well, it’s an amazing local charity called Dove House Hospice. This local charity has touched many people’s lives in the community as it is dedicated to providing care for people diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses.
Helen and Jill hoped to raise £4,000 in total for Dove House but have already exceeded this and now hope to just make the total as big as possible. As they are both funding this adventure themselves all sponsorship and other funds they raise goes directly to Dove House.
Good luck from everyone at ABI
