Top dog walking spots in the UK

Spring has begun! And the time has come for earlier sunrises and later sunsets, perfect for dog walking days out 🦮

To make the most of these longer days, we’ve put together 5 top places across the UK that you can travel to from your ABI holiday home and take your dog along with you too ☺️

Hayling Billy Trail, Hampshire

The Hayling Billy Trail is a popular walk that dog walkers can get around in approximately 2 ½ hours. This walk provides wonderful views of Chichester and Langstone Harbours, taking you alongside an old railway line, perfect for your dog to enjoy the wide paths and sunshine 👌 It is also a great trail for bird watchers and nature lovers 🐦

This walk runs beside Hayling Bay and passes the beach, meaning you can explore the town of Hayling or take a stroll along the coast and circle back again🚶

Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland

If you’re anywhere near Northumberland, this beautiful walk is not one to miss 🤩

Start off your walk in the fishing village of Craster and take some time to admire the fishing boats as you head across to the scenic coastline where the Dunstanburgh Castle sits and has done for 701 years! 😯

Don’t forget to pack a picnic for a lovely afternoon, taking in the amazing views with your furry friends 🌞

Cawsand to Whitsand Bay, Cornwall

This is another very popular dog walking route located in Cornwall. It’s a great place for your dog, with beaches and pubs along the way. You can also take a detour and head to Rame Head, where a chapel that was a radar station in the second World War sits on top of the steep hill 🐕‍🦺

From Cawsand to Whitsand Bay, this walk takes around 3 hours, so if you’re looking for a challenge and to tire your dog out, this is the one!

Aira Force and Ullswater, Windermere

Situated near Windermere is the Aira Force and Ullswater waterfall. This walk is 2.2 miles, so for anyone fancying a shorter route, or if you have an ABI near the Lake District, this one is worth a visit!  🌊

This walking route consists of many woodland trails. You can also walk to the top of Gowborrow and take in the panoramic views over Ullswater where you will probably spot some red squirrels! 😮 Along the way, you might also spot a ‘wish tree’, which is a tree trunk with lots of coins embedded from other walkers wishes. So don’t forget to take a coin along with you and make a wish 👀

Bishop Wilton and Givendale Circular, East Yorkshire

Who doesn’t love the Yorkshire countryside! 😍

Take a day trip on this route, situated near the small village of Millington in East Yorkshire. It is 7.9 miles long, and on average, it would take a walker around just over 4 hours to complete! This route boasts plenty of fields, perfect for your dog to have a run around off the lead in some areas.

This trail ends in the village of Bishop Wilton with a nice pub called The Fleece Inn and a small local village shop, ready for you and your dog to enjoy some refreshments afterwards 👌
